History & Background

The Kursaal Bern has been a centre for entertainment, conferences and dining in the Swiss federal city for more than a century. Even before Swiss gambling law was liberalised, the then-permitted game of boule was offered here. Under the new Gambling Act, the Federal Council granted Grand Casino Kursaal Bern AG a Type A licence in October 2001, and on 6 July 2002 the Grand Casino Bern opened its doors in the Kursaal. Since then the venue has established itself as a fixture with the Swiss Jackpot, an active poker area and the Crazy Daisy Kitchen Bar. In September 2020 it moved into legal online gambling with 7melons.ch. The Kursaal Bern group's licences for Bern (Type A) and Neuchâtel (Type B) have been renewed by the Federal Council for a further 20 years, securing the casino into the 2040s.
