Poker room
The Grand Casino Basel does not currently have a classic poker room with cash games or tournaments. Poker fans can play Ultimate Texas Hold'em against the house (minimum stake 3x CHF 5, with a progressive jackpot) or video poker on the poker machines.
Getting there & location
Bus route 50 (the airport bus) stops in both directions directly outside the casino at the Friedrich-Miescher-Strasse stop. The journey takes around 10 minutes from Basel SBB railway station and about 5 minutes from EuroAirport. From Basel Badischer Bahnhof, take tram 6 and bus 36 to the Im Wasenboden stop, then bus 50 to the casino.
From Switzerland or Germany, take the A2/A3 towards France/EuroAirport to the Basel-EuroAirport exit, then turn left towards EuroAirport. From France, take the A35 via the Basel/Saint-Louis motorway customs post to the Basel-Kannenfeld exit. The casino, a striking red building, is only a few hundred metres from the French and German borders.

History & Background
Airport Casino Basel AG was founded in 2000 and received one of the coveted Type A licences from the Swiss Federal Gaming Board. For the new building between EuroAirport and the city centre, it commissioned the Basel architecture firm Burckhardt und Partner. In 2003 the striking red building with its shimmering glass façade was completed and the casino opened. The venue made headlines in March 2010 when an armed group robbed the casino and made off with several hundred thousand francs; the perpetrators were never caught. In December 2021, Airport Casino Basel AG launched its own online casino, Golden Grand, but discontinued the platform on 30 July 2025 due to rising costs and strong competition. Since then the company has focused entirely on its land-based offering with the casino, the Hangar9 restaurant, the Metro Club and the Airport Hotel Basel in the same building. Over 21 years, the venue's slot machines have made 23 guests millionaires.
