Getting there & location
From Sierre/Siders station, the SMC funicular takes visitors up to Montana in around 12 minutes, and from the top station the casino is only a few minutes' walk into the centre. Alternatively, PostBus lines run from Sierre and Sion to Crans-Montana. Within the resort, free local buses connect the Crans and Montana districts.
Take the A9 motorway through the Rhône valley to the Sierre exit, then the mountain road up to Crans-Montana in around 20 to 30 minutes. From Bern the route runs via the Lötschberg car shuttle, and from Geneva via the A9 (approx. 2.5 hours). In winter, winter tyres and, depending on the weather, snow chains are recommended.

History & Background
The Casino Crans-Montana opened on 12 July 2002 with a Type B licence from the ESBK and has been the only casino in the canton of Valais ever since. The French casino group Groupe Partouche came on board early as majority shareholder with 57 per cent and shaped the venue for almost two decades. In January 2022, Partouche sold its stake to Circus Casino France, the gambling arm of the Belgian Ardent Group. Since then the venue has also traded under the brand Casino Circus Crans-Montana. In the reallocation of Swiss casino licences, Casino de Crans-Montana SA prevailed against competitors in a hotly contested zone: the Federal Council granted the licence for the years 2025 to the end of 2044, so Valais continues to have exactly one casino. Part of the proceeds flows into regional projects via the Fondation du Casino.
