How to deposit with PostFinance

In the cashier, you select PostFinance and are redirected to the secure login. There you confirm the payment with your E-Finance login details and the approval in the PostFinance App. You are then returned to the casino automatically, and the balance is usually available within a few minutes.

There are two ways to get there: direct debit from the PostFinance account via E-Finance, and the PostFinance Card. Both work in all six real money casinos in Switzerland, but they differ in speed: via E-Finance, the money usually arrives faster.

The advantage: deposits and withdrawals via the same route

Cards and payment apps are usually one-way streets. You deposit with them but get your money back by bank transfer. With PostFinance, this break does not occur, because the account is a bank account anyway: winnings end up where the deposit came from.

This makes bookkeeping easier and saves you from having to register a separate withdrawal account. Regular players otherwise make do with two methods at once. Here, one is enough.

“PostFinance is the method I recommend to people who like things uncomplicated. Apart from the classic bank transfer, it is the only one where deposits and withdrawals run through the same channel. That sounds trivial, but it saves exactly the step where most questions otherwise arise.”

Security and regulation

PostFinance is a financial institution supervised by FINMA and is therefore subject to the same supervision as a Swiss bank. Payments are approved in two steps via login details and app confirmation, and card details are not passed on to the casino.

Together with the concessions granted to the casinos by the Swiss supervisory authority, this results in a fully regulated chain from the account to the game. How we check providers for this is explained under how we test.

Processing times, limits and what you should keep in mind

Deposits are usually available within minutes, and in individual cases crediting takes up to an hour. Withdrawals take one to three business days, depending on how quickly the casino completes its internal check.

In addition to the casino limit, your personal E-Finance limit applies. If you want to move larger amounts, you adjust it in E-Finance, which is quicker than a request to the casino’s customer service. And as everywhere, the bank account and the casino account must be in the same person’s name.

PostFinance Pay: what is changing at the checkout

PostFinance is changing how online payments work. The existing payment methods “PostFinance Card” and “PostFinance E-Finance” are gradually being replaced by PostFinance Pay, which will be introduced in online shops by the end of 2026. Depending on the casino, the option in the cashier may therefore still have its old name or already be called PostFinance Pay.

With PostFinance Pay, you pay via the PostFinance App. On a smartphone, the app opens automatically, you log in and approve the payment. On a computer, a QR code appears, which you scan with the app. After a transition period, online payments will only be possible via the app. If you want to use PostFinance at the casino, it is best to set it up now.

You also already have an alternative in your pocket: since 2022, the PostFinance Card has also been a Debit Mastercard. This means you can deposit at the casino as a Mastercard payment as well.
