Getting there & location
The casino is on the Lokstadt site in the Tössfeld district, around 10 minutes' walk from Winterthur main station. Winterthur is an important SBB hub with direct connections to Zurich (approx. 20 minutes), St. Gallen and Schaffhausen. Several city bus lines stop right by the site.
From Zurich, take the A1 towards St. Gallen to the Winterthur-Töss exit, then follow Zürcherstrasse towards the centre (approx. 25 km, around 25 minutes). From St. Gallen, take the A1 towards Zurich to Winterthur (approx. 60 km). The casino is in the Lokstadt between the station and Tössfeld and is signposted.

History & Background
The building's story begins long before gambling: in the Halle Rapide on the Sulzer site, today's Lokstadt, locomotives were once built and moved through the hall by cranes weighing many tonnes. After Swiss Casinos closed its Schaffhausen location in October 2025, the group transferred its Type A licence to Winterthur for the new 2025 to 2044 licensing period. Around CHF 20 million was invested over four years in converting the heritage-protected industrial hall. The casino opened its doors on 10 December 2025, and on 12 December around 500 guests from politics and business celebrated the official opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, among them chairman Hans-Ueli Rihs and mayor Michael Künzle. With self check-in by facial recognition, fully automated self-cashout and the heaviest chandelier in Europe, the venue positions itself under director Daniel Kullmann as the most modern casino in Europe. Between 160,000 and 180,000 visitors a year are expected.
