Getting there & location
From Lucerne railway station, the casino is a 10 to 15 minute walk along the lakeside promenade. Alternatively, bus lines 6, 8 and 24 as well as night bus N3 stop at Casino-Palace right outside the building.
Take the A2 or A14 to Lucerne, then follow the signs for Seepromenade/Haldenstrasse. The casino is on the right-hand shore of the lake, a few minutes' drive from the Luzern Zentrum motorway exit.

History & Background
The Grand Casino Lucerne building has a long history: in 1882 the Kursaal designed by the French architect François Higonnet was opened, a neo-baroque showpiece modelled on the French Renaissance, right on the shore of Lake Lucerne. For over a century the building served as Lucerne's social meeting point with concerts, balls and the then-permitted Kursaal game. A new chapter began in 2002 under the new Swiss Gambling Act: the Grand Casino Lucerne started operating as the first Type A casino in Switzerland. In 2019 the venue also received the licence extension for online gambling and launched mycasino.ch, one of the country's first legal online casinos. Today the building brings together the casino, the Olivo restaurant with its 16 GaultMillau points, and the Casineum event club under one roof.
