Slots are the heart of every online casino, and yet the Swiss operators differ markedly in what they really offer slot players. More games do not mean a better experience, and more free spins do not mean more playing value. We compare portfolio, providers and bonus terms from exactly this perspective.

The studios can be roughly divided into three groups, and the difference between the casinos lies mainly in the second and third.
The big catalogues can be found everywhere: Pragmatic Play with Sweet Bonanza and Gates of Olympus, NetEnt with Starburst and Gonzo’s Quest, Greentube with the Novoline classics and Play’n GO with Book of Dead.
The volatile specialists are not represented everywhere and therefore make the difference: Hacksaw Gaming with the Le series and Wanted Dead or a Wild, Nolimit City with extreme mechanics and very high maximum wins, plus Push Gaming with Razor Shark.
The smaller studios such as Stakelogic, BGaming, Hölle Games or Wazdan determine the variety. They are the reason why a lobby with 54 providers feels different from one with 22.
We have recorded in full which provider is available at which casino and documented it under game providers.
Three values determine whether a slot bonus actually gives you playing value.
Free spins run on a specified slot with a fixed bet value, usually ten or twenty centimes per spin. 200 free spins at 20 centimes correspond to a playing value of CHF 40, not CHF 200. We have seen offers with nominally fewer free spins that, thanks to a higher spin value, were worth more than double the quantity offered by the competition.
With a CHF 200 bonus and a 30x wagering requirement, you have to wager CHF 6,000. On a slot with a 96% payout rate, that corresponds to a statistically expected loss of around CHF 240 while you clear the wagering. In real terms, the bonus is therefore worth more like half its nominal value. That is not unfair, it is part of the business model, and anyone who knows this will not be disappointed.
The game contribution determines which games count towards the wagering requirement and to what extent. Slots usually count 100%, live casino often only 10 to 20%, and table games in some cases 5%. If your favourite slot is excluded, the bonus is of no use to you.
The payout rate tells you what share of the bets flows back in the long run. For modern slots it lies between around 94 and 97%, and individual classics reach more. How RTP, volatility and hit frequency interact is explained in the article on slot mathematics.
One point that many people overlook is important: numerous slots exist in several versions, and the casino itself decides which one it integrates. The same title can pay back noticeably more at one casino than at the next, without anything changing in the graphics or mechanics. The applicable value is shown in the game under the info icon.
However, the rate says nothing about the distribution. Two slots with an identical payout rate can feel completely different. With low volatility, small wins come frequently and the balance lasts a long time. With high volatility, long dry spells are followed by rare big hits, usually driven by a multiplier in the bonus round.

If you care about as many free spins as possible from the welcome package, Swiss4win with 500 free spins and PASINO with 350 free spins are clearly ahead. If it is only about the sheer number of slots, mycasino and Jackpots are right at the top.
“The number of slots is the most heavily advertised and least useful figure in the market. When testing, I look at the list of providers first, because that is where it is decided whether a lobby is still interesting after two weeks. A casino with 2,000 games from 43 studios feels bigger than one with 2,900 games from 22.”

A slot bonus is more than the number of free spins. Three values decide whether you end up with more play value than without the bonus.
In Switzerland, free spins are often granted on a fixed slot (for example Sweet Bonanza, Big Bass Bonanza or an in house title). What not everyone knows: every spin has a fixed stake value, usually CHF 0.10 or CHF 0.20 per spin. 200 free spins at CHF 0.20 equal a play value of CHF 40, not “CHF 200”.
Before you choose an operator because of “lots of free spins”, read the single value in the bonus terms. We have seen operators with nominally fewer free spins that deliver more play value through a higher spin value than the competition with “twice as many” spins. A No Deposit bonus has normally a smaller value per free spin, but also brings less risk.
Swiss operators sit between 25x and 35x wagering on the bonus, some on bonus plus deposit combined. An example: you take a CHF 200 bonus, wagering 30x, so you have to wager CHF 6,000. On a slot with 96% RTP that equals a statistically expected loss of CHF 240 during the wagering. In other words: the “CHF 200 bonus” does not have the full value of CHF 200 in reality, more like half.
This maths is not “bad”, it is part of the business model. But knowing it protects you from disappointment.
What can the bonus wagering be cleared on? Slots usually contribute 100%, live casino often 10 to 20%, table games like blackjack sometimes only 5%. If your favourite slot is excluded from the promotion (for example jackpot slots), the bonus is no use to you.

The RTP is the percentage a slot statistically pays back to players over the long term. At modern slots in Swiss casinos the values sit between 95% and 97%, with a few outliers above:
Slot
Provider
Official RTP
Sweet Bonanza
Pragmatic Play
up to 96,51 %
Book of Dead
Play’n GO
up to 96,21 %
Starburst
NetEnt
up to 96,09 %
Gates of Olympus
Slot
up to 96,50 %
Mega Joker
NetEnt
up to 99 % (Super-Meter-Mode)
⚠️ Careful: some slots have several RTP versions. Casinos can, in coordination with the provider, integrate a lower variant. Check the slot info window (often marked with an “i” or “paytable”) for the value that is actually active. At BGaming you can sometimes choose the RTP yourself, which is a rare exception in the market.
RTP says nothing about how wins are distributed. Two slots with the same RTP can feel completely different to play.
Low volatility: frequent, small wins. Long sessions with a small bankroll are possible. The slot “trickles”.
High volatility: long dry spells, then rarely a big hit. High bankroll risk, high win potential.
Which volatility type suits you depends on bankroll, patience and playing goal. Not every player loves the Hacksaw rollercoaster, and that is perfectly fine.
Time and again we see dubious online casinos advertised on the internet and made tempting with huge welcome bonuses. But watch out and do not fall into the trap: unlicensed online casinos can be treacherous! Find out more about the risks and how to protect yourself.

Licensed by Big Time Gaming, used by practically every provider. The number of symbols per reel varies with each spin, with up to 117,649 ways to win possible. Well known examples: Bonanza Megaways, Buffalo King Megaways, The Dog House Megaways. Found in all six Swiss casinos.
Instead of classic reel lines, you win when 5 or more identical symbols sit connected. Sweet Bonanza is the best known example. Wins can cascade (tumble mechanic), winning symbols disappear and new ones drop in.
Every hit of a special symbol starts a bonus round in which you collect cash values or jackpots. Examples: Money Train 4 (Relax Gaming) or the “Hold & Spin” mechanic in many Pragmatic slots.
You can buy the bonus game directly, typically for 100 times your stake. Sounds tempting, but the house edge stays. In some Swiss casinos and for some slots the Bonus Buy feature is disabled (a Swiss player protection requirement). Check that before your first spin if it matters to you.
Here a part of every stake is fed into a growing pot. Mega Fortune and Mega Moolah have produced several Swiss millionaire stories in the past. Progressive jackpots are especially prominent at Jackpots.ch (the name says it all), mycasino.ch and 7melons.ch.
Our reviews are based on a clearly defined and transparent testing methodology. Every online casino is checked against fixed criteria. This ensures that all providers are evaluated objectively and comparably. You can find details of our process on our testing methodology page.
You like variety and enjoy discovering new things. mycasino with 54 studios and Jackpots with 43 offer the broadest base. There you will also find the smaller names that are missing elsewhere.
You mainly play highly volatile slots. mycasino, Jackpots, Pasino and 7melons carry Hacksaw Gaming, and Nolimit City is represented everywhere except at Swiss4Win.
You want the Novoline classics. Book of Ra and Lord of the Ocean run via Greentube and are available at all six casinos. How the classic works is explained on our Greentube page.
You have a small budget. Pay less attention to the size of the portfolio than to low minimum bets and to slots with low volatility. They make your balance last considerably longer.
False. Every spin is independent of the previous one. A slot that has not paid out for a long time is statistically just as far from the next hit as one that has just paid. This error in reasoning even has a name: the gambler’s fallacy.
Also false. Payout rate and volatility are independent of the bet. Higher bets only mean higher absolute wins and higher absolute losses. How much you should bet per session is covered by bankroll management.
A myth. The software works identically around the clock.
Half true. Individual operators apply different conditions during promotions, but this has to be stated in the bonus terms. With licensed Swiss operators, you will find this information in the terms and conditions.
The majority of all slot sessions now take place on mobile, and the operators have followed suit. At all six casinos, the games run stably in the browser, which is made possible by the technology behind Instant Play.
Modern mechanics such as Megaways or Hold and Win are usually optimised for portrait mode, and depositing with TWINT actually works more smoothly on mobile than on desktop, because the confirmation takes place on the same device.
Slots are the fastest form of play in the casino: high spin frequency, immediate feedback, a steady stream of small rewards. That is deliberate design and no coincidence, and it makes them the category where a limit helps the most.
Every licensed operator provides you with the same tools free of charge: a deposit limit per day, week or month, a loss limit that ends the session automatically, the reality check at intervals of 30 or 60 minutes and the gambling exclusion, ranging from 24 hours to permanent.
If you feel you are losing control, you will find the free and anonymous points of contact in Switzerland under gambling addiction counselling.
By number of games, mycasino leads with more than 3,900 titles, followed by 7melons and Casino777. The number of providers is more meaningful, though: there, mycasino is also ahead with 54 studios, while Casino777 only reaches 22 despite its large number of games.
There is no single best one. Pragmatic Play offers the greatest variety, Hacksaw Gaming and Nolimit City the highest volatility, NetEnt and Greentube the classics. For most players, a mix of three to four studios is the right solution.
Because many titles are supplied in several versions and the casino decides which one it integrates. Graphics and mechanics remain identical. You will find the applicable value in the game under the info icon.
You buy the bonus round directly, usually for a hundred times the bet. The feature is allowed, but many operators have switched it off for individual slots for player protection reasons.
Not the ones with the highest number, but the ones with the highest value per spin. 100 free spins at 20 centimes and 200 free spins at 10 centimes result in the same playing value of CHF 20.
Most slots have a demo mode with play money. The exceptions are live formats and progressive jackpots, which require a real-money balance.
Because the contracts between studio and casino differ and every game has to be approved individually for the Swiss market. Hacksaw titles are widely available at mycasino, while the studio is missing entirely at Casino777 and Swiss4Win.
