The Swiss Casino Winterthur is the newest casino in Switzerland and opened on 10 December 2025. It is located in the heritage-protected Halle Rapide on the Lokstadt site, the former Sulzer industrial grounds where locomotives were once built. The Swiss Casinos group invested around CHF 20 million in the conversion and describes the new location as the most modern casino in Europe. The Type A licence applies to the new 2025 to 2044 licensing period. <\/p>\n
Across roughly 2,600 square metres of gaming space there are 202 latest-generation slot machines as well as eight gaming tables with American roulette, blackjack and Ultimate Texas Hold’em poker. As the first casino in Switzerland, Winterthur uses self check-in terminals with biometric facial recognition and a fully automated self-cashout, where machines convert winning chips directly into cash. Thanks to its heritage status and the large hall windows, it is also one of the few casinos with natural daylight. <\/p>\n
An eye-catcher is the chandelier weighing more than 15 tonnes above the publicly accessible LOK Bar & Lounge.
