Casino Barri\u00e8re Montreux sits directly on the shore of Lake Geneva and is one of the most storied casinos in Europe. Opened as a Kursaal back in 1881, the venue made headlines around the world when it burned down completely on 4 December 1971 during a Frank Zappa concert. Deep Purple immortalised the event in the rock classic “Smoke on the Water”. Today the French Groupe Barri\u00e8re operates the casino with a Type A licence from the Swiss Federal Gaming Board (ESBK), which permits high stakes without limits. <\/p>\n
Across several floors, more than 350 slot machines with progressive jackpots await, alongside classic table games such as English roulette, blackjack and Ultimate Texas Hold’em. A special feature is its own poker room with regular cash games and tournaments, a rarity in French-speaking Switzerland.
